The Tony Award-winning play, The Miracle Worker is the true story of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, in a gripping battle to overcome impossible obstacles and the struggle to communicate. As a young girl, Helen Keller is stricken with scarlet fever. The illness leaves her blind, mute, and deaf. Sealed off from the world, Helen cannot communicate with anyone, nor anyone with her. Often frustrated and desperate, Helen flies into uncontrollable rages and tantrums that terrify her hopeless family. The gifted teacher Annie Sullivan is summoned by the family to help the girl understand the world from which she is isolated, freeing Helen Keller from her internal prison forever. This show is an American family classic. It will leave you believing in miracles.

Meet the Cast of The Miracle Worker

Daniella Civile (Helen Keller)

Daniella is excited to be playing Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker, an inspirational story of true perseverance. She made her Poiema debut in Titanic (the Musical). Her most recent performances include playing the role of “Susan Waverly” in White Christmas and the roles of “Luci and “Sarah” in The Robe. Other performances include Singin’ in the Rain (Poiema - ensemble); Rodger & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (NRCA - ensemble); and Cinderella - a Street Players Production (Field of Dreams Performing Arts - Fairy Godmother’s comedic helper). Daniella enjoys dog walking, songwriting, art and party planning. Special thank you to Lori Ann Magnotti who like Helen Keller had unstoppable determination.

Christi Cook (Kate Keller)

Christi is making her PoiemArtistry debut in The Miracle Worker. Her prior performances include Crown Cruise Line’s Celebration Show and King’s Dominion’s Country Music Live. Christi sang the National Anthem for the Special Olympics at the Lawrence Joel Annex Coliseum three consecutive years. She sang with Sound Express Band & Chords of Faith. Christi performed as “Ursella Merkle” in Bye Bye Birdie with the Greensboro Community Theatre and was “Yogi” in Rockin’ Scooby Review, a Hanna Barbera Production, performed at Crabtree Valley Mall and other venues. She appeared as a featured extra in NBC’s movie of the week, A Burning Passion, as “Waitress” in Indiana Jones, and as an extra in Empire Records. In addition, she has been in various Public Service Announcements & commercials broadcast on NBC. Christi studied drama at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she later received her BA in Communication Studies, concentrated in Public Relations and a minor in English Literature. She attended acting workshops under the instruction of Lori Lindberg. In addition, Christi studied Improvisational Acting with Tom Capps at North Carolina State University. Later, she attended Van Mar Academy of Motion Picture & TV Acting while in Los Angeles, CA. Chrisi received dance training from Dormony Dance Studios as well as North Carolina School of the Arts. Lastly, she studied voice under Martha Teachy at the North Carolina School of the Arts Community School of Music and Michael Well in Los Angeles, CA. Presently, Christi has been performing in the Triangle in various venues and is performing with Cary Community Choir and serves a board member.

Michael Dial (Doctor/Assistant Stage Manager)

Michael is performing in his sixth production with PoiemArtistry. His PA stage credits include: The Great Day (Vocal Soloist), Similitude: The Great Adventure Begins (Faithful), Seussical the Musical (General Gengus Khan Schmitz/Wickersham Brother), Titanic (J. Bruce Ismay), Singin’ in the Rain (RF Simpson), and White Christmas 2022/2023 (General Waverly). Michael recently graduated from Liberty University Online with a degree in Sports Management. He would like to thank his family and his wife, Naomi, for supporting him in everything he does.

Anastasia Gibson (Martha)

Anastasia is excited to be in her second performance for Poiema Arts. She is an actress/singer/writer and in school to finish her degree in ASL interpreting. She has also done some film acting (the web series Necroland most recently). Anastasia was in Poiema Arts performance in The Secret Garden (Mrs. Claire Holmes/Jane) and is returning for The Miracle Worker. She is extremely grateful for this opportunity to grow even more as an actress and to use her gifts for God!

Dianne Gibson (Aunt Ev)

Dianne is blessed to be making her theatrical debut with Poiema Arts as, Aunt E, thanks to Michael Green & his family! She has done film acting in the recent past, being cast in a couple of independent films & some medical commercials. She is also a singer, currently involved in her Cross Assembly seasonal choirs. Dianne is always wanting to use her God given talents to glorify her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.

Isaac Green (Mr. Anagnos)

Isaac has been around theater since he was 4 years old and has been active in theater since he was 11 years – acting, dancing, singing, and directing. Isaac is an accomplished tap dancer and enjoys all styles of dance. He has been a part of over 10 musicals including Pirates of Penzance (Frederick), Godspell (Jesus), Pride and Prejudice (Mr. Bingley), West Side Story, The Nutcracker Ballet, White Christmas, Similitude: The Great Adventure Begins (Worldly Wiseman), Seussical the Musical (The Cat in the Hat), Titanic (Thomas Andrews), Singin’ in the Rain (Don Lockwood), White Christmas 2022/2023 (Phil Davis), and The Secret Garden (Dr. Neville Craven). He has also had extensive training in stage flight operation, design, and directing. Isaac is thankful for the opportunity to work and perform with the cast and crew of PoiemArtistry!

Sarah Hargett (Annie Sullivan)

Sarah started learning to act in 2006 and hasn’t stopped since! With PoiemArtistry, she has played "Charlotte Cardoza" in Titanic, "Diana" in The Robe, and “Mrs. Medlock” in The Secret Garden. She also performs with Field of Dreams Performing Arts, where she was "Mrs. Phelps" in Matilda The Musical and “Miss Scarlet” in Clue On Stage. She loves to dance and sing in ensemble parts, but most of all, she loves being an actor—so she is thrilled to take on this wonderful and challenging role of Anne Sullivan. She’d like to thank Mr. Green for helping instill in her a deep love and appreciation for the craft of acting.

Micah Hay (Percy)

Micah is eager to be in his 4th production with Poiema Artistry appearing first in Seussical the Musical as a “Cadet”, Titanic as “Jack Thayer”, The Secret Garden as a “Dreamer”, and The Miracle Worker as “Percy”. He has always loved the arts, and began with taking singing & piano classes at the Central Academy of the Arts. Micah loves Jesus and is grateful for a Christ-centered environment at Poiema where he can continue to grow in his theater skills to use them for the glory of God in this year's production.

Alex Peters (Captain Keller)

Alex is thrilled to be part of his fourth production as a member of PoiemArtistry. He has been involved in the arts for over a decade now, having been in several musicals, plays, and has participated in various vocal and instrumental ensembles showcased at a number of major North Carolina colleges. Alex was offered several scholarships in the arts while graduating from high school and plans on furthering his education through one day earning his doctorate in music performance while balancing his budding career in the finance & investment industry. He thanks God for helping him remain disciplined in his pursuit of excellence and allowing him to spread the gospel through the arts, as well as his mother for supporting his passions and keeping him grounded. Alex would also like to give a special thank you to Poiema Arts for all that they pour into their members and community; he aspires to remain with Poiema Arts for as long as they’ll have him.

Sarah Richardson (Viney)

Sarah is very excited to be a part of Miracle Worker. Although she has been a part of many shows in the past, this is her first show with PoemArtistry. Some of those other roles include, Ensemble/ Bread Vender in Raleigh Act's Aladdin JR, and Ensemble in Raleigh Act's Oliver! JR. Along with this show, Sarah has also taken dance and theater classes with Poiema. Sarah also takes piano and voice. She would like to thank her directors at Poiema for helping her fully understand her character and playing them the best she could.

Keanan Woodard (James Keller)

Keanan is a junior and honor roll student at Christian Life Academy. He is also currently enrolled at Wake Tech’s dual enrollment program. He has a love for astronomy, outdoor activities, and baseball. In the summer of 2021 and 2023 he played on the Knightdale All-Star baseball team. With a passion for science, Keanan is wanting to pursue a Ph.D. to become an astrophysicist. He also has a love for theatre and dance and he has taken several tap classes. Keanan has been a part of PoiemArtistry since the spring of 2020, appearing in the productions Similitude: The Great Adventure Begins as “Younger John”, Seussical the Musical as the “Grinch”, Titanic as “Quartermaster Robert Hitchens” and “First-Class passenger, George Widener”, Singin’ in the Rain as the “3rd Assistant Director”, White Christmas 2022/2023 as “Ezekiel Foster”, and Secret Garden as “Major Holmes”.
