Singin' in the Rain “pours” down delight, capturing the waning days of the silent screen era as they give way to new-fangled “talkies.” With The Jazz Singer premiere making Hollywood frantic, the studios are forced to suddenly change all the movie-making rules at once, to accommodate sound. In doing so, they leave silent pictures -- and some of their stars -- behind. When Monumental Studios turns silent The Dueling Cavalier into The Dancing Cavalier, a musical picture, in order to stay relevant, they are faced with a problem: their star, Lina Lamont can’t sing, and can’t even really talk. Lina’s voice sounds something like nails on a chalkboard. Enter Kathy Selden, an aspiring actress whose dulcet tones are able to cover Lina Lamont’s -- calling into question what it means to act, how credit is distributed, and what it means to get a fair shake in the movie business. Singin' in the Rain includes some of the best-loved comedy routines, dance numbers, and love songs ever written, including “Good Mornin’,” “Make ‘em Laugh,” and - of course - the show-stopping dance number, “Singin’ in the Rain.”

Meet the Cast of Singin' In The Rain

Amy Blom (Kathy/Olga Mara)

Amy is excited to be returning to the stage with PoiemArtistry. She graduated from Anderson University in 2019 earning her BFA in Musical Theatre. While attending college, Amy performed with Mill Town Players and choreographed for Stagecraft Children's Theatre. Upon graduation, She started working for Walt Disney World where she took several entertainment and management classes. Amy has previously appeared in shows such as Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel), Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins), Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), Big Fish (Sandra Bloom), and The Marvelous Wonderettes (Cindy Lou). She currently works in childcare encouraging young minds as well as sales and social media. Amy would like to say a special thank you to her parents, Mike and Karen Blom, as well as her fiancé, Dillon Traphagen, for their continued support.

Daniella Civile (Ensemble)

Daniella made her Poiema debut in Titanic the Musical. She is currently a 6th grader at North Raleigh Christian Academy (NRCA) and loves to sing and act. Daniella played the role of “Fairy Godmother’s comedic helper” in Cinderella (Street Players Production) at Field of Dreams Performing Arts and was in North Raleigh Christian Academy’s Cinderella production. She has taken dance at Broadway Dance Theatre (North Plainfield, NJ) and Dance Dynamics (Wake Forest, NC). Daniella would like to give a special thanks to all her friends, family, and to the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Darrio Connor (Police Officer/Talking Picture)

Darrio is appearing in his second show with PoiemArtistry. He played “Captain E.J. Smith” in Titanic The Musical. Darrio is from California, has been in North Carolina for ten months. He studied theater at Santa Monica College in Los Angeles, Pasadena College and University of Southern California. He trained to be a “soap opera actor” along with “television for children”. Darrio has worked as a model for several years. He has been in many theater productions such as “RENT”, “High School Musical”, “You Can’t Take it With You”, “Othello”, “Dream Girls”, “Up the Downstairs Case”, “Rodgers And Hammerstein’s Cinderella”, “Thumbelina” and a host of others. His television credits include “Moesha” “Eye on LA”, “Infamy”, “Untold Stories of the ER” and more. He has also been in many music videos, worked with many different talented music artists such as Mac Miller, Stephanie Mills, and SOS Band to name a few. Darrio is a father of two beautiful daughters, has been married for 30 years and works full time as an actor. Darrio is so honored to work with so many beautiful talented people at Poiema. He thanks God for this opportunity.

Samuel Davis (Young Cosmo/Ensemble) (Sammy)

Samuel is excited to participate in his very first PoiemArtistry production. He is in the 5th grade at Christian Life Academy. His favorite subjects are Bible, math, and science. Sammy enjoys learning about animals and building large Lego sets. He also loves to sing, dance, and play the piano. These are all gifts that he wants to use to give glory to God. Sammy is one of the most friendly and kind hearted people you will ever meet. He is greatly loved by and his father (Eric), mother (Amanda), brother (Nathaniel), sister (Abigail), and many other family members and friends.

Michael Dial (R.F. Simpson)

Michael is performing in his fifth production with PoiemArtistry. His PA stage credits include: The Great Day (“Vocal Soloist”), Similitude: The Great Adventure Begins (“Faithful”), Seussical the Musical (“General Gengus Khan Schmitz”/”Wickersham Brother”), and Titanic (“J. Bruce Ismay”). Michael recently graduated from Liberty University Online with a degree in Sports Management. He would like to thank his family for supporting him in everything he does, and his amazing voice teacher, Mrs. Lori Tomalonis, for stretching him vocally and believing in him.
